Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre
Dedicated to his late father Chi-Wan Young on behalf of Albert Bing-Ching Young (SDU ’60), the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre was opened in 1990, in time to host the America Winter Games in 1991.
The Sports Centre has a two-lane walking/running track, squash courts and three full-sized courts that can accommodate basketball, volleyball, and badminton. A wide selection of equipment may be signed out at the front desk.
The fitness centre located on the second floor has a variety of equipment. The centre has modern locker rooms with saunas and hair dryers. There is no charge for locker use but please bring your own lock or purchase one at the front desk. Automated External Defibrillators are available in Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre (across from the Panther Central Desk and in the Fitness Centre).
- * Youth 12-15 years may use basketball courts/squash courts/walking track without supervision but still require a parent's signature upon entrance to the facility.
- ** Youth 12- 15 years require parent/guardian signature on any membership and also require parental supervision in the Fitness Centre. Supervising adult is also required to have a membership/day pass.
- Panther Sports Medicine, a rehabilitative services clinic operated by Marc MacDonald and his Reactive Health team, is located in the Sports Centre. To contact the clinic, call (902) 620-5181.
The Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre has the capacity to host large-scale events from national sport championships to concerts, trade shows and symposiums.
