| Background: | This scholarship is established by Allan Andrews, BCA BEd. '75 and Doug Shepherd, RPI BSc., partners in Andrews Hockey Growth Program. Established by Allan in 1979 with Doug joining the partnership in 2005, Andrews Hockey Growth Programs have developed a reputation as one of the finest hockey schools in existence. Graduates such as Brad Richards and Sidney Crosby attribute much of their success to their time as students at Andrews Hockey. Located in the CARI Centre at BCA, Andrews Hockey "strives to stress the importance of healthy living and personal excellence." Many BCA Hockey alumni have attended and have benefited from the program's understanding that successful development as a hockey player is the product of complete personal growth. In recognition of their belief in the importance of athletic and personal development, and their desire to make a difference for BCA students, Allan Andrews and Doug Shepherd have established The Andrews Hockey Growth Scholarship. |
